Do you struggle with finding your niche?
I’m betting you have so many ideas welling up inside of you that it’s easy to feel scattered. You have so many passions and interests that it’s probably been hard to “niche down” like everyone says you should. You may have an idea of how you want to build your personal brand, but it’s hard to know where to start and what you should prioritize first. Maybe if you’re here, you feel a little lost right now.

That’s where I come in.
At the end of the day, you need someone to help you pull out the weeds in your thoughts, help you reveal your purpose, and shed light on the message you want your audience to hear. You’re ready for a step-by-step guide and the right plan to get you there.
How I Discovered Personal Branding
I’ll never forget the first time I started my business as a teenager. I just joined the administrative team at church and they needed a flyer designed for an event. I took on the challenge and low and behold I nailed it. As I walked through the church I overheard a few compliments about how nice the design was and it gave me a rush.
From that moment on I tried to be available for all the flyer projects. It got to the point where they were just being sent to me, and I loved it. I loved it so much I started my own business. I begin to do research, and study all things design. I figured because I was good with flyer design I must be good as a designer in general. Graphic Design, Fashion Design, Interior Design, Event Design, you name it. I did it.
I found myself involved in all kinds of jobs but never any solid career. It took me some time to finally narrow down my niche when I was hired at a place where dreams come true, Disney World. I was hired on as a seasonal decorator and my contract was coming to an end and I wasn't ready to leave. I wanted to still be a part of the disney family to someday move my way up to become an Imagineer. So to get my foot in the door permanently I applied to be a plumber at one of the resorts.
I got hired for the job and only lasted through my 90 day probationary period. But the week before I left everyone was called to a meeting about some new changes that were going to be happening at the resort. They talked about the new language of how we should speak, the music that we were going to hear, the new decorations that we would see, The products, the new storyline of the resort and the timeline when everything would rollout. I was sitting on the edge of my seat with some much excitement of the news. Not because it was just going to be amazing updates to the resort. But because in that moment I discovered my purpose. I wanted to be on the other side of the table helping someone's vision come to light. It was a great day to be a plumber that day.
As I sat there trying to hold back tears of joy and excitement and not trying to look awkward. I kept telling myself it’s been in me all along. The indecisiveness of loving so many aspects of design finally made sense to me. I’m a Brand Strategist.
How I Changed the Trajectory of My Career
I realized I needed to shed light on the message inside of me and write out a plan to help me grow my personal brand. So I got to work. I built my own personal website, and began creating content for social media. I posted regularly on my Instagram, and Facebook. Over time, I was able to build an engaged audience across my platforms.
Slowly but surely, my hard work began to pay off. I became a magnet. Instead of digging for leads, customers, and clients, came to me. And above all else, all my art desires become one. I was able to speak about myself with more grace and self-assurance than ever before.
When I first started personal branding, I was doing it to help me gain credibility. What I didn’t expect to find was this newfound sense of clarity. It was so much deeper than raising my visibility as a leader and establishing my credibility. Personal branding became a pathway to discovering myself and my purpose.
